World of Warcraft News – Captivating Online Fantasy!
If you haven’t heard of World of Warcraft by now, then you must so over computer games. But wait, World of Warcraft is not just a computer game. It is an online game that can gather multiple players. But not any kind of game, it is a role playing game that presents a wide range of interesting, even captivating characters that come in multiple races and classes, characters that have numerous professions, from alchemists to mining and from engineering to jewelry crafting; and even from cooking to poisoning.
Sounds tempting, right? This game is actually quite tempting for the numerous players that enter this virtual fantasy world, where they have the chance to select and build stronger characters, gain more skills, more intelligence, more power and the list can go on and on.
Identifying with the World of Warcraft Character
Besides the killing the enemies part, besides the completing the tasks and quests part, parts that, why not admit, are characteristic to all types of action games, the game has a certain dosage of oneness and comes along with a very high dosage of competitiveness between characters, or, better said, between the players behind the characters, players that are stimulated to obtain the virtual rewards and to empower their characters’ abilities.
The players tend to identify with the characters they build and lead, they tend to care for them (some more than they should), they basically live their life, a life which is much more fun and challenging than their own, since it deals with actions quests and fights with the enemies.
Are We Dealing with a World of Warcraft Virtual Community?
The answer to the above question is quite obvious: yes, we are dealing with an official online community that represents the World of Warcraft game. Forums, artwork and stories, changing opinions and impressions about the game, getting advises regarding the game strategies and even buying and selling characters, these are just some of the aspects and opportunities that this community implies and offers to the fans of the game. And the community seems to be extending more and more.
Just How Popular Is World of Warcraft?
Considering all the facts above, it is no wonder that world of Warcraft is a massively successful online game. How successful, exactly? Well, it has not less than 8 million players; quite a number, right? But hey, this massive success also brought some controversies and debates in the picture. The main issue that tends to affect many online role playing games: addiction. With statistics claiming that almost half of the players are actually addicted to the game, it is no wonder that World of Warcraft continues to be a real worldwide success.
