Jobless Claims:

U.S. Continuing Claims for week of March 21 increased by 161K to 5,728,000; U.S. Jobless Claims for week of March 28  increased by 12K to 669K compared to survey of an increase by 3K; U.S. Jobless Claims for March 21 Revised to 657K from 652K;

U.S. Jobless Claims Highest since October 1982; U.S. Continuing Claims Highest on Record.

Factory Orders:

U.S. Factory Orders rose 1.8% in February as compared to consensus of an increase by 1.9%; U.S. February Factory Orders, Excluding Transportation rose 1.6%; U.S. February Factory Orders, Excluding Defense rose 0.9%; U.S. February Durable Goods Revised to an increase by 3.5% from an increase by 3.4%; U.S. January Factory Orders Revised to a drop by 3.5% from a drop by 1.9%.

Good news out of Sichuan-EU Economy and Trade Week 2008, Ladies’ Shoe Center of China (LSCC) and Italy CONFINDUSTRIA FERMO signed an agreement of strategic cooperation, under which up to 30 Italian shoes enterprises will be organized to participate in the LSCC this October to introduce their advanced experience in training, technology, research & development, etc.



    At 6:00pm, July 17, leading lights from footwear industries of Italian Marche region and officers   of LSCC as well as principals of some Chengdu shoes enterprises got together. After listening to the presentation on development potentials of Chengdu ladies’ shoes and the wide prospect of Chinese market, officers of National Association of Italian Footwear Manufacturers (ANCI), Marche Region Footwear Association and over 30 Italian shoe factories showed their great interest. CONFINDUSTRIA FERMO of Marche region signed an agreement of strategic cooperation with the Industrial Operating Center of LSCC….     Marche is the largest shoe manufacturing region in Italy, where 40% to 50% Italian shoes enterprises concentrate. Globally well-known shoe brands such as CK and tod’ are from here. In accordance with the agreement, both parties will intensify the development of footwear trade between China and Italy, and will make deep cooperation with each other in respect of business and exhibition invitation, brands promotion, market development, exhibitions, training and design………………………..



    According to CONFINDUSTRIA FERMO, they would organize over 30 Italian enterprises and purchasers to participate in the Sourcing Festival this year; they would hold press conferences in China regularly to release fashion trends of Italian footwear, with presentation by well-known designers and professionals in fashion industry, so as to instill the latest global fashion trends and design concepts into Chinese shoes enterprises………
